Getting started

Should I mix stems or master a track?

Choose the right starting point for separate instrument files or an already finished stereo mix.

In this guide
  1. Choose Mix & master for separate parts
  2. Choose Master a track for a finished mix
  3. Avoid processing the same music twice

Choose Mix & master for separate parts #

Use Mix & master when you have separate audio files for vocals, drums, bass, guitars or other instruments and want Moozix to balance them together.

  1. Open Studio.
  2. Choose Start a mix.
  3. Upload the separate instrument files.
  4. Check the instrument labels, then choose Mix All.
  5. Listen, adjust if needed, then master the song.

Free sessions allow 16 stems; Pro allows 38. A stereo file counts as one track, not two.

Studio offers Start a mix for stems and Start a master for a finished stereo mix.

Choose Master a track for a finished mix #

Use Master a track when the vocal/instrument balance is already in one stereo file.

  1. Choose Start a master.
  2. Upload one finished mix.
  3. Choose the mastering profile and loudness settings.
  4. Select Master track, then listen to the result.

Mastering applies to the whole mix. It does not expose separate guitar, bass or vocal controls inside a stereo file.

Avoid processing the same music twice #

Do not upload a full song alongside the stems that already make up that song. Do not include a drum-bus sum and all of the same individual drums unless you intentionally want both.

Choose one version of alternative exports. Doubling a part can make the result louder, muddy or phasey. If you only have a finished stereo file, choose mastering rather than pretending it is a collection of separate instruments.
